Storytelling and smoking ceremony with Gadhungal Marring
Join us for an unforgettable Indigenous cultural experience featuring story telling and a smoking ceremony with local Jervis Bay Indigenous cultural practitioners, Gadhungal Marring. The name Gadhungal Marring means Saltwater People, and they are Dharawal Traditional Custodians on the south coastal waters and Country of NSW.
From Founder Ray Timbery - ' What continues to inspire me daily... is remembering our old people and the people who came before us with the resilience they held through all kinds of challenges our people faced. This is what drives me to keep forging ahead with Reconciliation and Revitalisation, bridging the relationships between First Nations people and non-Indigenous people while also ensuring the longevity of our Cultural ways by passing it onto to the next generation.
At Gadhungal Marring it is our passion to share our Cultural practices with all, especially kids and students including Indigenous and non-Indigenous who are the future our society.'
A visit to Yuin Country is not complete without learning about this ancient land and the people who have nurtured it for thousands of years. Spend some time with Gadhungal Marring to deepen your connection to Country and broaden your understanding of Indigenous heritage in Jervis Bay and Australia.
Includes light refreshments after the session.
